Iowa CME Requirements for MD and DO Physicians:
- Total CME Credits Required: 40 hours every two years
- Category 1 Credits: At least 20 hours must be AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™
- Carryover Credits: Up to 20 hours of credit can be carried over from the previous license period
- Special Requirements for Primary Care Providers:
- Child Abuse Identification: 2 hours of training every five years for those who regularly provide primary health care to children
- Dependent Adult Abuse Identification: 2 hours of training every five years for primary care providers
- Chronic Pain Management: 2 hours of Category 1 training every five years
- End-of-Life Care: must complete end of life training every five years
